Accessing ebooks at State Library Victoria

State Library Victoria provides free access to over 1 million ebooks. Ebooks complement our print collections. We collect across a wide range of subjects including social sciences, history, economics, literature, biography, sport and architecture.

Who can read our ebooks?

Everyone can access online resources including ebooks within the Library. Victorian residents with an active Library membership can also access online resources outside the Library. Become an Access member for free online or send us a membership query.

You can find these ebooks by searching the catalogue or browse our curated ebookshelf. The ebook catalogue filter searches the following sources:

ProQuest and EBSCOhost ebooks can be downloaded (see relevant pages in this guide for instructions). Ebooks from other databases can be read online. Some NED ebooks can only be read in the Library building. Please check each catalogue record for access conditions.
