Information on accessing English language testing materials
To find English language resources on our catalogue, use subject phrases such as English language Textbooks for foreign speakers or English language study and teaching. You can also limit your search to Audiovisual to find learning kits with CDs. To do this, perform an Advanced catalogue search
1. Select Audiovisual from the Search scope dropdown menu
2. Select Subject from the dropdown menu on the first line
3. Type in your search term (e.g. English language study teaching)

The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) provide free English language tuition to eligible migrants and humanitarian entrants to help them learn foundation English language and settlement skills.
The site Your English corner includes a list of free English conversation classes around Melbourne. There are also many institutions that charge fees for English classes.
The City of Melbourne’s Multicultural Hub is managed by the Adult Multicultural Education Services (AMES). It is a place where people from Melbourne’s many different cultures can get together to work, share and learn in a safe and supportive environment. It also has rooms in various sizes available for hire at low-cost.
Melbourne City Library holds regular informal English conversation classes.
RMIT hold free English conversation classes. These classes are suited for anyone wanting to practise their English.
The State Library is different from other libraries in many ways. One big difference is that our print books can only be read within the Library and cannot be borrowed. We are here to help you though, if you want to find out where you can borrow a book in another language.
Many public libraries in Victoria have books and other items in community languages that you can borrow for free. You can join any Victorian public library if you live in Victoria. You can use these resources to find out which public libraries have books and other items in your community language of interest.
