Our Children's Browsing Collection reflects the multicultural diversity of Victoria. We have picture books in 29 languages other than English. These books are divided alphabetically by language and include titles such as:

Step 1 : Navigate your way to the catalogue by visiting www.slv.vic.gov.au
Click on 'Catalogue' in the top bar of the page
Step 2 : Click on 'Advanced Search' to the right of the Search box.
Use the drop-down box to change the filter 'Any Field' to 'Holdings information'.
Step 3 : Enter the term 'CQ' (this stands for Children's Quarter'), and your preferred language (e.g. 'CQ German').
Click on 'Search'.
Our catalogue includes a helpful 'Map it' link which shows you which shelf the book you are looking for is on.
To use this feature, select the blue 'Map it' button on the catalogue record:

We also have a selection of picture books in Australian Indigenous languages.
Our Indigenous language items have the collection code AUSTLANG attached to them to make them easier to find in the catalogue and on the shelf. To search for books in Indigenous languages, follow the search steps on this page and enter the search term CQ AUSTLANG.
To find the books on the shelf, look for the identifier below, and for books with AUSTLANG on the spine label.
