'Detailed data is available for [Victorian] towns with more than 500 persons (in 2006) and rural balances. This includes total population, age structure, income, household size, dwellings, labour force, industry of employment, birthplace and language spoken. Summary data, covering the key demographic variables, are available for the smaller towns of between 200 and 500 persons, while basic population figures are presented for “tiny towns”, ie those with less than 200 persons.'

For each suburb, a wide range of variables are covered, including total population, age structure, income, household size, dwellings, labour force, industry of employment and birthplace.

Community profiles 'are available for the top 75 overseas birthplaces groups in Victoria. Each profile consists of a series of 30 tables comparing ethnicity characteristics with a range of socio-demographic variables. Some of the data are also compared across Local Government Areas.'

Table Builder is a subscription service that allows users to create sophisticated tables, graphs and thematic maps of data from the 2001 and 2006 censuses. It is only suitable for experienced users of census data, and being quite costly, is more suited for professional organisations. It is not available at the State Library of Victoria, and must be purchased from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
